2012 Presidential Candidate Herman Cain stated Monday that he wanted to restrict the Muslim group from building the now infamous Murfreesboro mosque, calling it no “innocent mosque.”  Murfreesboro, a city in central Tennessee with over 100,000 residents, was the site of protests last year when the formal announcement of the Islamic Center of Murfreesboro, or ICM, was made.  Protesters took to the streets to voice their concerns and the spectacle quickly gained the attention of the national media.

Richard Land of the SBC, however, disagreed with Cain over the nature of the First Amendment.  He warned Cain, “Don’t throw out the baby with the bath, Mr. Cain.”  Land seems to be on to something.  If the government is allowed to dictate when and where a mosque can be built today, then what could stop it from determining where we Christians can build a church tomorrow?
